Identity connects us, so Signal uses its ongoing Signalite Social Spotlight to feature our incredible employees for who they really are. The more you learn about them, the more you’ll begin to recognize what makes our favorite individuals unique. Can you identify?
Ben Vogt, Senior Engineer. Described as “goofy” by friends and family. Rides a unicycle. Legally-ordained minister.
Age: 25. Hometown: Appleton, WI. Graduated from Beloit College (double major in theater performance and computer science). Favorite snack at Signal: “The trail mix we have, because it’s the perfect ratio of M&M’s to nuts.”
Hobbies: Biking around Chicago (“I’m trying to bike through every neighborhood in the city. There are 70-ish, and I’m at about 35”). Enjoys the movie ‘Hot Rod,’ doing improv and acting, eating Cuban food, watching ‘30 Rock’ and drinking lime LaCroix.
Pet Peeves: People riding Divvy bikes on the sidewalks, guacamole (“I’ve just never liked it”), car alarms that switch between sounds, when people ask “Did you get my email?” or say “Bless you” louder than the actual sneeze itself.
Would you rather have first dibs or the last laugh?: “I’d want the last laugh. Way more fun to laugh than to have dibs.”
What he’s best known for at Signal: “My Hack Week project demos. One time, I mapped the WiFi signals at different intervals around the office. Based on where your computer was, it could pinpoint where you were and help you find your way to different conference rooms.”
