Identity connects us, so Signal uses its ongoing Signalite Social Spotlight to feature our incredible employees for who they really are. The more you learn about them, the more you’ll begin to recognize what makes our favorite individuals unique. Can you identify?
Jenny Kinahan, a.k.a. Yenny. Software Developer. Considers herself snarky, goofy, willing to lend a hand and “always ready to have a good time.” Go-to drinks: Smirnoff Watermelon, Peach-Pear LaCroix and whiskey gingers (“obviously”).
Hometown: Hanover Park, IL, but currently lives in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood. University of Illinois at Chicago grad. Majored in computer science. “A good day is when the coffee carafe is full and there is a seat on the train.” Always laughing.
Interests and passions: Rock climbing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, circuit bending (“I go to thrift stores to buy children’s toys and manipulate the circuits to make them sound different”). Anything water-related (rafting, canoeing, kayaking). Trying ramen places in the city (favorites include Strings Ramen and Ramen Takeya).
Dislikes: The “aaaahh” sound people make post-drinking during beer commercials. The word “nibbler.” People chewing with their mouths open. Self-important people.
Would she rather have a rewind button or a pause button on her life? “I’d pick a pause button. It’s always interesting to live in the moment, and sometimes you don’t want that moment to end. Everything that is in the past could be a fond memory — and that’s okay.”
What she likes most about working at Signal: “Teaching and learning is held at a very high value at Signal. Also, everybody is so warm. I really enjoy everyone’s company, and it’s great to have people you can hang out with outside of work.”
